After 31 years, Red Pepper is ceasing print production. You can read why here. Between March and May 2025, we asked YOU – our readers and supporters – to shape what comes next.
Now, we’re analysing your ideas and energy, assessing options and budgets and getting ready to launch a new model based on your feedback in summer 2025.
Thanks to all who contributed – this page details what we did.
Readers’ Survey
A HUGE thank you to the hundreds of readers who responded to our survey March-May 2025. The team is now compiling results, taking time to carefully explore a huge amount of input, so we’re ready to launch our report and announce our next steps.
Community Forums
These small group events were perfect for those of you who wanted to get deeper into the challenges facing left media today – and to discuss how Red Pepper might transform in order to tackle them!
We held in-person events in Manchester at The Working Class Movement Library, London at the War on Want Offices, Leeds at the Climate Action Hub, and online via Zoom. Combined with our reader/supporter survey this has generated a rich mine of information that our team are already working through. Thank you!
Join the team!
Do you have skills, energy, time and ideas to revitalise our team or take a lead role in shaping our future?
We’re still looking for people from all backgrounds and levels of experience – and training and orientation will be provided to new members (as well as mentorship where useful). Let us know what you’d like to bring to our team!
- The Admin and Advisory Collective (Board) oversees all our non-editorial operations. We’re especially looking for people with skills in business strategy, financial management, securing grants, marketing, and HR. These volunteer/ pro-bono positions usually require 2-4 hours per month.
- The Editorial Collective plans, commissions, edits and posts articles. Members are paid a stipend and generally work 8-16 hours per month for at least six months of the year. It holds regular virtual meetings but primarily works via email.
- Volunteers are essential to help build Red Pepper’s reach, from joining stalls at events to helping maintain our website and proof-reading grant applications. If you only have a few hours here and there to contribute, let us know!
- Collaboration with activist and advocacy groups, trade unions, media organisations, foundations and other collectives is our lifeblood – only solidarity action can strengthen the international left! We’re always excited to hear your ideas for projects and collaborations – however big or small.
