Movement Building Partnerships

Red Pepper has collaborated with partners since our 1994 launch, fostering mutually supportive relationships and fortifying movement roots and branches. Working strategically together, we’re building solidarity, reach and power across the left – including left media.

As oligarchs and tech billionaires seek to drown out independent left media, aligned and supportive Partner organisations can have a huge impact. That’s why we’re formalising this vital strand of our work by launching our Movement Building Partner Network, to build stronger links between grassroots groups, bookshops and social centres, radical charitable trusts, trade unions, NGOs and justice campaigns.

Become a Network member to help RPM build bulwarks against the right and support reliable, robust journalism for the international, pluralistic left – accessible to everyone, pay-wall free.

Drop us a line with your ideas for collaboration – see the list below for inspiration. We’re already excited to work together!

RPM offers partners…

An extensive platform

We’ll share your news, events, giveaways and job announcements in our fortnightly newsletters, raising your profile among a broad left audience of 12,000 readers. We can also offer free or heavily discounted rates on website and print advertising.

Specialist training

We’re invested in building media and journalism skills across our movements. We’ll offer trainings and ‘masterclass’ exclusive to Partners and create additional workshops tailored to your specific needs.

Case study: Our ‘Stop the press release!’ workshop helps groups develop bespoke action plans for targeting outlets, developing and pitching stories to put their voices into the headlines – as featured at the New Organising Conference 2025.

FULL archive access

Our full digital archive – 32 years of history, debate and progress on the international left – offers a searchable resource for researchers, policy-makers, historians, educators, writers and avid movement readers.

Collaborative journalism

Our Editorial Collective works with partners to hone stories into compelling articles, promoted to an international readership. Our reputation for trustworthy, non-partisan journalism is well-established – and a key resource for movement partners.

Case studies: We work with the Raymond Williams Foundation to produce the Key Words series and publish bimonthly dispatches from the West Bank in partnership with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM).

Named support

We’ll add your logo to our Network page with a link to your website and description of your work, increasing your organisation’s visibility and reach with visitors to Red Pepper’s website.

Print publications

RPM has produced high quality magazines, booklets and pamphlets with numerous partners and for varied target readers. Whether you’re experienced in print or new to publishing we can support your goals.

Case study: We put political education into Unison North West members’ hands with our Mythbuster series and supported guest edited magazine sections from The World Transformed team every year 2017-2023.

Co-hosted events

The RPM team has experience planning, hosting and publicising events across a range of formats. We’re here to support events as media partners, co-hosts, facilitators and invited speakers.

Case studies: We’ve filled London’s Rich Mix for post-election analyses and celebrations of Black journalism; hosted community forums at May Day Galas in Durham and Chesterfield; debated the future of media in Glasgow, and streamed online debates on revolutionary gaming, race today and fake news.

Shape the debate

Shape the direction of our work through priority-setting surveys and focus groups, pulling diverse member voices together to ensure our journalism remains relevant and powerful. Network consultations on media strategy offer further opportunities for forging alliances across common goals and values.
