Dear Comrade Mike, Thanks very much for taking up this case. The workers themselves when they meet tomorrow (Sunday) will be given a copy of what you have written, and I am sure will express their gratitude. We also now have more news about the whereabouts of the workers pension fund and facts are emerging which reinforce the view that settlement of this dispute will inevitably expose further corruption. SAMWU is now moving towards the taking of secondary action to further apply pressure for an honourable settlement. It is reliably estimated that Joburg City Council has nearly one thousand unfilled vacancies. It does not take a mathetician to realise that 280+ workers could be integrated on this basis. Its not the absence of maths that is the problem, but the absence of political will to settle this dispute once and for all. For now the struggle continues! Amandla!
