Really "Tories were assisted by their influential friends in the media". It was Ken who tried to pin Boris as a tax dodger first and then it was the left bloggers and Guardian which exposed Ken own tax avoidance. Again it the Guardian which reported another one of Ken Jewish comments and it was Ken who made bee-lines to Friday prayers to Mosques on the year to harvest the muslim votes only to be caught out by someone managing to video his pledge to muslim voters to make London a Beacon of Islam. It was Ken who let his campaign team down. It was the left Labour press got hold on to these self inflicted wounds. Labour GLA candidates did not say such stupid things & guess what the same Labour supporters voted for them but not Ken. It's about time we stop banging on about the tory press. Let's get real!

Michael, I thought I was a leftie!

Ken wasn't the reason why I lost faith in the Labour Party, but once I set myself to deciding who my preferred candidate was, Siobhan was simply best on offer - in some ways more radical. I would have preferred Ken to Boris but they have both been far more moderate than each other's teams would characterise.

The major Ken-factor that pushed me against him despite my general dissatisfaction with Labour was his support for Lutfur Rahman in the Tower Hamlets Mayoral election. I didn't think I owed him any bond of comradeship after that.

But in any case, not a Blairite opposition
