There really isn’t a clear divide of people either growing their own veg or buying ready meals. Furthermore classing people who buy sauces in jars with people who buy ready meals.

Stop being elitist about vegetarianism. There aren’t classifications and you’re not ‘proper’ because you grow your own.

@ 47 years old & a vegetarian since the age of 5 I’m very confused by the exclusivity of my dietary choice, maybe time to boil it in a bag & have a chat with Margo & Jerry mediated by Tom & Barbara :) There we go that’s “proper” lol

There is a big difference between the kind of diet adhered to by proper vegetarians and vegans and ‘boil in the bag’ vegetarians of the chattering classes variety. The former generally buy or grow their own uncooked vegetables and pulses, only using the very occasional ready made sauce from a bottle or jar; whilst the latter, who still function along the lines of your very average meat eater in that much of what they eat comes out of a microwave tray, are the ones to whom the thrust of this article applies!
