The can’t have failed to realise that whether they destroyed the euro or not, they were going to impose considerable suffering on literally millions of Europeans (whom they sneered at as “piigs”). You just wonder how such people could be so totally lacking in morality. The bright side is that the attack failed and the damage is slowly but surely being repaired. Ireland is set to leave the bailout next year and since the weapon used to attack Ireland was a property bubble, just as in Spain, Spaniards can reasonably hope that they too are close to seeing the end of the crisis. Thank God for the EU. Without it, things would have been far, far worse.
