Rob:

I understand your frustration -- but it seems that you've missed an integral part of the argument. You're right, it may be that Assange will be extradited from Sweden. In fact, I believe that he will. He may even be innocent. But the only reason he's got the backing that he does is that he's at the top of a hierarchical structure (the world of hacking) and he cannot be touched; he's needed. In other words, his importance to the movement outstrips the claims of sexual assault against him. Just like the banks in the US, he's "too big to jail."

Why can you not accept that the people who defend Julian Assange's fight against being extradited to Sweden are simply believing his claim that he will be much more vulnerable to be extradited to the US from Sweden than from the UK where he has strong support. It is nothing to do with whether he should be questioned for alleged rape. Of course he should but not if it means it will make it easier for him to be extradited to the US.There is no way of knowing if this would be the case without him actually going to the Sweden for the questioning but I believe and support him in his desire to avoid returning to Sweden with the current US witchhunt on whistleblowers in full swing.
Rob
>>It is no coincidence that defenders of the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who is fighting extradition to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations, talk of his anti-government work, at best ignoring a discussion of sexual violence.<<
