Kenny,

The EURO itself is not the origin of the problem for the european economy (German elite obviously make profit out of it), but the 2008-financial crisis was bound to happen. Greece, even with the Dracma would be obliged to make the same cuts. The same is valid for Portugal, Spain (in a fairly good economic shape before 2008) and Ireland (the same).

The main cause for the economical disaster is the progressive financialization of the capitalists economies. The fiscal and labour costs dumping are also determinant.

Leaving the EURO today, without the proper mobilization and consciousness of the people, will only bring chaos due to the natural hyper-inflation. Not only that, without a proper solidarity network among europeans workers, the greek economy will not stand a chance against the competitors.

As for the immigrants, I challenge you to found a single economist capable of blaming them over the economic and social havoc. If you don't like immigrants, very well, you can start by putting pression over your own government to apply some equitable measures concerning the global trade, money laundry and ecological exploitation. Poor people will emmigrate, just like the europeans did during centuries.

For me the above is not fancy argumentation, populism is the Golden Dawn approach, if you see their speech as the "ordinary people" perspective, I think you should go back to the history books.

The words not spoken. What's interesting is that there is no talk of Greece abandoning the euro or leaving the EU. That's a measure of how great has been the victory over the Wall St speculators whose scam the whole fake "euro crisis" was in the first place. But also, the middle class left is still unwilling to admit that the whole thing WAS indeed a scam and not the start of the famous worldwide revoultion that Lenin announced as imminent in 1917 and that his acolytes continue to announce at regular intervals ever since. One could also note the complete disjunction between the middle class left and ordinary people in Greece in regard to Golden Dawn. All over Europe, ordinary people want to see non-European immigrants out of their countries. They perceive such people as taking their jobs, pushing down wages, overburdening public services and turning their neighbourhoods into slums. When middle class leftists start bleating fancy-sounding gobbledygook like "the violent hand of the system" at them, they just tune out. Thus, the first step for the middle class left is to come back down to planet Earth but I see little sign of that happening anytime soon.
