When Blair finally made it into Number 10 in May 1997 banner headlines proclaimed from the broadsheets that he would not let us down. Within a very short period of time the Formula 1 Tobacco Advertising scandal had set a chain of events in motion that would culminate in NewLab becoming tainted with a similar degree of sleaze to the mountain of muck that had forced John Major’s Government from office.

This considered, can we look forward to a rosy political future under a Miliband Premiership? Or, is ‘Private Eye’s’ Milibean set to become their New Tory Plan B?
