Rio 2012 the future we want A/CONF.216/L.1

49. We stress the importance of the participation of indigenous peoples in the achievement of sustainable development. We also recognize the importance of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in the context of global, regional, national and subnational implementation of sustainable development strategies.

better than most of the text.

The UN General Assembly ratified this in January 2007. It means that indigenous peoples have rights of free prior informed consent to development which affects them and the land on which they live. How do we take this forward?

Lucy Lawless refused to submit to this lazy stereotype- oh well.
