Ed Miliband’s opposition to the strike is no surprise. It’s not a matter of his individual character or politics. No Labour party leader in history has ever backed a strike. Every Labour party leader sides with the employer, before strikes, during strikes and after strikes. What do you expect? That’s their job!

While I am also disappointed with Ed's stance, it is not surprising, and in contrast to this article and the spleen he has generated, he was measured in his language. Mild disapproval rather than condemnation? He also made it clear that his problem with the strikes was largely tactical, and that he shared their cause if not their means. It is worth noting that his view is shared by Unison and Unite - that this was the wrong time to strike. Shall we slag them off for betraying the cause too? It would behove all of us to remember we are on the same side and that we are allowed to disagree, but in a comradely manner, without cries of betrayal.

I am as critical of Blue Labour as you (and I thing the name is terrible and misleading) but I don't understand how you parse this 'They want a return to the stability and safety of communities that foster "social order, family life and common decency",' as right wing.
