Please Dear Manchester Communist,
be careful when expressing opinion on the politics of a country you don't know. "KKE carries on mobilising the people around a militant program" it would be a really long list if i started writing the occasions that KKE was opposite to peoples' movements and choices of organization. Shaking the finger and warning society about its dead-end hopes is not a struggle, it's just criticism from a safe place...

"Pasok looks fatally wounded"

Isn't that the main point of this whole election? The problem for the Greek ruling class is that their two party system looked under question. They need to have a centre-left and a centre-right party to give the illusion of democracy and prevent popular support for socialism.

Syriza provide a very good replacement for Pasok. They are committed to retaining Greece's membership of the imperialist NATO and EU, they were favoured by the Greek Bosses organisation and met with the US ambassador to assure their subordination to imperialism.

Even if Syriza had won the election nothing would have changed. Comrades need to re-examine the state and power in a capitalist society. There is no way you can elect socialism into being in the absence of a strong people's movement and militant trade unionism.

There are harsh words for the KKE, but at least they understand this. While Syriza only put their efforts into electoral pipe dreams, the KKE carries on mobilising the people around a militant program, like every other day.

I would strongly suggest you keep in mind the way political powers are distributed though ages after the last elections. Syriza has a very strong lead (more than 10%) in ages 18-54 while 55+ voted in favor of conservative parties.
Apparently unprecedented terrorism from every western country did worked on elder greeks but cannot see how they will manage to deal with the reaction of the younger and active, i believe a clash here is predetermined to happen.
