I&#039;d add one further important point which is that the service-providing voluntary agencies have been caught in a pincer movement between the suits in the government and the shiny suits in the private sector. The result has been a widespread adoption of management styles and working methods that vandalise one of the hallmarks of the best of voluntary action - democratic, non-hierarchical, and respectful structures and cultures.
