I have only come across Defend Council Housing in recent weeks. My home was transferred to RSl just over 10 years ago on a very small majority and refused a recount. I am in total agreement with the aims of DCH. I do not like the way my RSl (Yarlington Housing Group formerly South Somerset Homes Ltd)conducts its business. In fact the RSl will not accept any level of criticism even constructive. South Somerset District Council which handed over the council housing stock now says that it cannot intervene, but on transfer made a number of promises to protect the tenants in a monitoring role.

Is there any way of tackling RSl's. This particular RSl resorts to dirty tricks. Any level of bullying or distorting the truth just makes my resolve firmer. I have an HNC in Public Administration and a NHS Management qualification, and well able at times to 'take on the RSl CEO' and consider myself to be an honourable person, something not possessed by RSl officials I have encountered in getting questions answered.

At the Tenants Conference the CEO attacked my good name and I had to endure a personal attack. It would seem Tenants are not allowed to think for themselves and tenant focus groups are just a means of the RSl carrying out what it wants to do. Point of interest the CEO would not say what his salary was despite a direct question. He said it was on the website but was not easy to find. I have not located it. He said this 10 minutes after the Chairman of the older peoples focus group stated that 50% of them had no interest in using the internet. With bravado he said he considered himself to be excellent value for money.

The expensive RSl newsletter regularly shows new and additional directors being appointed. The RSl declares itself as a not for profit organisation despite expanding in to 8 local authority areas and building individual homes at 335,000 pounds each!
When it builds new housing it advertises in the local press for interested people to come forward and register an interest. The RSl should only have one aim, and that is meeting the Housing List.

I have recently sent a number of newspaper clippings by snail mail because they did not attach properly to previous emails I sent to DCH.

Another concern I have relates to the demolition of my home, one of 16 and replacement with 30, only 16 of which will be for rent (no gain). They should be be a further 5 of the 30 for rent in order to comply with the 33% requirement. Are they able to side step this with the planning department?
