11 JanuaryFour months after the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington, on 11 January 2002, the first detainees are flown into Camp Delta, Guantanamo Bay, the US military base on the south-east coast of Cuba. ‘On-board the aircraft: (a) Detainees will be shackled (cuffed) to leg and wrist irons connected to belly irons and the aircraft.
